Using an unusual approach, Israel: A Home Movie documents the history of the country through a collection of video clips shot by private individuals between the ‘30s and the ‘70s.
The film was compiled using 8mm home movies and boxes of films from people’s basements and attics, and features voiceovers from the individuals and their relatives.
It depicts many domestic moments which lend the film a nostalgic air and captures historic events like the start of the Yom Kippur War.
Tom Brook speaks with the film’s producer, Arik Bernstein, who explains how the footage was collected and compiled. He also talks about the response to the film in Israel and the Arab world.

A couple of days after she ran into trouble during the shoot of her film in Udaipur, actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt talks to us about her 'bad' experience:
What exactly happened at the Bad shoot?
SP Hariprasad Sharma disrupted my shoot by screeching abuses, slapping and punching my gaffer, a light boy and camera attendant, illegally detaining my co-producer Vikram Khakhar and then abusing me to my face and threatening to arrest me.
What made the SP react the way he did?
He claims he 'lost his cool' because someone from my unit asked him to wait for five minutes while a shot was being canned. He kept screeching, 'You don't have permission to shoot in the SP's office'. Truth is, we were filming on a stairway that leads to his and others' offices. But this was not the only access point to the SP's office.
Unit hands got hurt, co-producer manhandled. Was Randeep threatened, too?
They threatened to arrest director Prawaal Raman, then rushed towards Randeep and grabbed his hands. I rushed to them and insisted that they let Randeep go.
Why was the shoot disrupted again? Were all permissions in place?
The permissions were in place and on paper. It was nothing more than an archaic, power-drunk mindset at play. The SP's ego was hurt that we were filming there without having to posture in front of him for permission and that the collector had sanctioned all permissions without a hitch. I am told by locals that he attempted to do the same when Sanjay Leela Bhansali was filming in Udaipur a few months ago. He seems to be extremely sexist and thought he could intimidate me more than the average producer because I was a woman.
Is there some kind of an election fever on in Udaipur?
Yes. I urge other filmmakers to reconsider their schedules here unless they have the capacity to stand their ground and take on the system or if they are shooting only within the confines of luxury hotels and privately owned property. There is also a complete disconnect between the people's attitude and the attitude displayed by certain powers that rule. Sections of local media are serving as lapdogs instead of watchdogs and indulge in a constant stream of biased reportage.
Who do you think has motivated the disruptions?
A desperate need in the people who agitated to get their names and faces in the papers and a clamour for power. I have been made a pawn in this tussle between warring officials and political parties. Tragic, given the fact that I not only promote tourism by setting my film in Udaipur, but also fuel the economy and generate jobs for a fairly large number in local talent. One can't look away from the fact that the film industry is considered to be a soft target by politically motivated groups for long.

Willis has been married to Heming since 2009 and hasa one year old daughter, Mabel with her.
"I think I'm very fortunate. I get asked to do a lot of different kinds of things. Some of them include weapons, some of them include jokes, from time to time I get to make out with women that I'm not married to. How often does that happen?," he said.
Heming is good sport about his onscreen displays of affection.
"Nobody gets mad if you have to kiss someone every once in a while. You say, 'Look, it's right in the script. It says, 'Now (Bruce) kisses Mary-Louise Parker...Now (Bruce) kisses Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Actor Salman Khan was on Wednesday charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2002 hit-and-run case for which he can face a jail term upto 10 years.
Speaking about the case, well-known lawyer Majeed Memon, says, "Although this widely discussed case has been delayed for a fairly long time, the incident is 11 years old and therefore, in a criminal trial it becomes difficult to secure the evidence of relevant witnesses at such a belated stage. Some witnesses die, others change their residences over the years and become unavailable to the prosecution, thereby making it difficult to establish the case. In the instant case of Salman Khan, what needs to be found out is, as to who is responsible for this delay."
He went on to add, "The accused, Salman Khan, himself cannot exclusively be held responsible for this long delay. In criminal matters, the delay can be attributed to various factors including the procedural pendency of revisions and appeals even before the trial. In any case, such inordinate delay should be avoided in the best interest of truth and justice."
"Now that the charges in the case have been framed, it is an important milestone and it is expected that now the trial court will not delay in conducting and concluding this trial. Needless to say that non-availability of witnesses causes advantage to the accused in all trials, for which the accused cannot be faulted. The prosecution as required by law has to establish its case beyond reasonable doubt and if any doubt is left out, the benefit is necessarily extended to the accused," said Memon. Whether you’ve woken up too late or have a last-minute party to primp for, you’re going to need these fast and fabulous make up tricks — little fixes that make a big impact.

1. Angelic eyes
The trick: Brighter eyes with one tool.
How: Work a little white eyeliner (preferably an iridescent white) onto the rim of the eye from the outside to the inner corner. It casts a glowing halo effect that is angelic.
2. Easy brow tweezing
The trick: Shape eyebrows for frame the face.
How: Using a slant tip tweezer, place the tweezers very close to the skin and swiftly pull the hair in the direction of the growth. Stand about a foot away from the mirror and alternate brows.
3. Wider eyes in one step
The trick: Eye flourish in a hurry.
How: If your time is tight, forget a complex eye make up look; swipe on two coats of mascara. Leaving your eyes mascara-free means your eyes have no frame and your look isn’t complete.
4. Speedy lips
The trick: Fast-track your pout with lip stain.
How: A stained look is much quicker to achieve than a fully made-up mouth. With a clean finger, pat lip stain into your lips so that the colour looks washed rather than opaque.
5. Shortest manicure
The trick: Gorgeous nails in 60 seconds flat.
How: Remove all polish, clean under your nails (with lemon juice, if you have it) and massage the thickest lotion you can find into your cuticles. Lip balm will suffice.
6. Pink lippy to fix flaws
The trick: For faking flawless skin.
How: To really perfect your complexion — no matter what your skin tone — wear lipstick in a warm pink. It distracts people’s eyes from blemishes and other imperfections.
7. Lipstick as a blush
The trick: Lipstick can double as a creamy textured blush.
How: Dab a clean finger onto lipstick and smile. Where the apples of your cheeks pop out blend on the colour, sweeping it up towards your temples.
8. Multi-purpose foundation
The trick: A hardworking make-up base.
How: Choose a mineral foundation for a covered yet natural finish; this means you can skip powder too. This type of base is great for all skin types, especially if you suffer from acne or have sensitive skin.

Beginning at about 9 a.m. ET Thursday, the country's largest financial institutions will endure a large-scale coordinated cyberattack, the likes of which we've never seen.
Good thing it's just a drill.
About 50 institutions -- including banks like JPMorgan Chase (JPM, Fortune 500) and Bank of America (BAC, Fortune 500) -- will participate in the exercise, called "Quantum Dawn 2." Several government agencies, including the U.S. Treasury, will observe the drill.
The idea is to simulate what would happen if hackers penetrated certain systems in financial companies and agencies. If breached, infections could, in theory impact the entire gamut of the sector from exchanges to brokerages to insurance companies.
The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), a trade group, will orchestrate the exercise. The simulated attack will run from 9 a.m. to about 3 p.m. today, crunching about two and a half days worth of faux attacks those hours. No real systems or accounts will be impacted during the simulation.
Related story: Easy ways to keep your online accounts safe
To take part in the drills, each of the participating institutions will be running software developed by Cyber Strategies, a Northfield, Vt., firm that specializes in making cyber exercise software for financial institutions.
Karl Schimmeck, SIFMA's vice president of financial services operations, declined to share specifics of what exactly the simulated threats would look like, but similar drills in the past have looked like a giant, computerized version of roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons.
Mandiant: Cyber espionage is the new normal
An employee sitting at his desk might get a prompt saying, "this bank is having integrity issues with money," or "you cant make trades over this technical system." The employee then might role-play talking to an FBI agent -- likely an actual one enlisted to help with the drill, said Dave Aitel, CEO of the security firm Immunity, who formerly worked as a research scientist for the National Security Agency.
Institutions will have the opportunity to practice sharing information with one another during the drill to help navigate through the threats, Schimmeck said.
Related story: cyberattacks are the bank robberies of the future
The financial sector is hoping to prepare itself for a massive, disruptive attack -- a growing concern lately, as "hacktivists," organized cybercriminals and government-spnosored attacks become increasingly large and successful. Though still a far-off doomsday scenario, some security industry experts say the financial sector is vulnerable to cyber-terrorists aiming to damage the U.S. economy.
In a digitized world, every sector needs to worry about cyber breaches, but the financial sector is in a "uniquely bad position," said Aitel. That's because banks and other financial institutions have to do deal with money flows in real time, with markets hanging in the balance.
"Our industry has been the target of many attacks over the past year, and it's important that we stay one step ahead," said Schimmeck.
SIFMA said that Thursday's drills attracted twice the number of financial institutions that participated in first Quantum Dawn exercise, held in 2011.
Though some skeptical security experts dismissed Quantum Dawn as a PR stunt, SIFMA said the first run was useful in uncovering flaws in the industry's cyberattack protocols. The trade group found that banks were largely good at sharing information with one another, but bad at making real-time critical decisions for mitigating the threats.
This time around, banks are hoping to improve their performance and discover new vulnerabilities.
"The banks won't answer all of their questions," said Aitel. "But they will learn more about what kinds of questions they need to ask."

Where are the video bloggers raising questions about Samsung's decline?
Fanny Schlatter, 18, with bandaged thigh and burned-out Galaxy S3
FORTUNE -- Did you miss the report Monday about the Samsung Galaxy S3 that caught fire in the pants pocket of a Swiss teenager, sending out shoulder-high flames and inflicting second- and third-degree burns on her right thigh?
I'm not surprised. These things can happen in any device powered by lithium-ion batteries, and the news of such incidents tends to fly under the radar.
Unless, of course, the device that catches fire is made by Apple (AAPL). Then -- whether it's an iPod in Japan, a MacBook in California or an iPhone in Finland -- the Internet lights up like a Christmas tree and doomsday pundits start weighing in.
Take, for example, this Your Gadget Guide video from last March titled "Apple iPhone 5 Catches Fire - Apple Going Downhill?

There are 66,134 cash machines in operation across the UK - an all-time high - yet they have changed little since they first appeared on the High Street in 1967.
As payment methods move digital, so cash machines will need to develop from the terminals that we have all become used to, experts say.
The main challenge comes from the smartphone. Mobile banking allows customers to check balances, organise transfers, make swift payments between friends in restaurants or pay the local tradesman.
The answer from the industry, it appears, is to make the cash machine more like a smartphone.
A recent cash machine jamboree in London featured a host of prototype terminals that had the look, and feel, of oversized smartphones or tablet computer.
Laser surgery for varicose veins
4 February 2013 Last updated at 12:35 GMT Help
Painful and unsightly, varicose veins affect around a third of people in the UK.
Traditional surgical treatment which strips out veins means having a general anaesthetic, staying in hospital overnight, followed by several weeks of recovery time.
Laser surgery is much less invasive and works by heat-sealing damaged veins from the inside. Patients can be back on their feet and return home the same day.
Health Check's Dr Ayan Panja reports.

The skin around the eyes is very delicate and thinner than most other areas of the face. It has no oil glands and has a fine texture. This area requires special care and reflects neglect, abuse, aging, stress, internal health and lifestyle very easily. In fact, dark circles around the eyes can also develop due to hereditary factors, lack of sleep, illness, stress and nutritional deficiencies. Therefore, along with external treatment, it is advisable to take these aspects into consideration in order to establish the cause and bring about the necessary changes.

Dark circles can develop at an early age, like adolescence and early 20s, although it is more common in older people. This is due to the causes discussed above. The way to prevent dark circles is to have a nutritious and balanced diet, including fresh fruits, salads, yogurt and sprouts in your daily diet, along with unprocessed cereals, skimmed milk, cottage cheese (paneer), lentils and beans.

Daily exercise, along with deep breathing, helps blood circulation, oxygenation and control of stress. Adequate sleep and relaxation are very important.

Gentle movements and a light touch are essential while handling the area, to remove make up or apply creams. It is better not to massage the area, so that the skin does not get pulled or stretched in any way.

Any massage of the area should be done during a professional facial, so that correct techniques are employed. A cleansing gel or cream should be used to remove make-up, using moist cotton wool. Gels and creams help to dissolve make up and grime and thus facilitate their removal.

A cream which has been specially formulated for the area around the eyes should be applied. Heavy creams are not suitable. It should be a cream with a light texture and consistency. The cream should be removed with a moist cotton wool after 10 minutes. Cream should never be left on the area around the eyes during the night. Normal facial masks should not be applied around the eyes. An under-eye cream, containing almond, is good, as it not only nourishes the skin, but has a lightening effect on the colour tone, if used over a period of time. Facial masks are usually not applied around the eyes.

Eye fatigue can also be relived with washing. Wash your eyes with warm water and follow this with cold water. This improves blood circulation to the eyes and soothes them. It also cleanses the eyes and relieves congestion.

Some home remedies can be used to minimise dark circles, brighten the eyes and reduce fatigue:

- Cucumber juice is a common remedy. It should be applied daily around eyes and washed off with plain water after 15 minutes.

- Mixing potato juice with cucumber juice in equal quantities helps if there is puffiness along with dark circles. Follow the same procedure.

- Dark circles can also be treated by mixing cucumber juice with lemon juice in equal quantities. Apply daily and wash off with water after 15 minutes.

- Tomato juice is also said to lighten skin colour.

- Consult your doctor about daily exercises. Include deep breathing exercises in your exercise schedule. This helps to deal with stress and also oxygenates the body.

- Along with external care and a healthy lifestyle, take time off for relaxation, using eye pads. Take cotton wool and make two thick square pads. They can be soaked in cucumber juice or rose water. Lie down, close your eyes and put the soaked pads on them. Keep them on for

Nokia unveils slimmer top-end phone
Nokia phone gets Whatsapp button
Nokia has unveiled a new handset with a 41 megapixel sensor which it claims can record "details never thought possible from a smartphone".
It says consumers will be able to zoom in and reframe their photos without worrying about the image quality suffering.
Analysts who have tested the device said that it was "without doubt" the best smartphone camera on the market.
But they added that was not a guarantee that it would be a bestseller.
Market research firm IDC recently carried out a survey of smartphone owners in 25 countries to identify what factors were most likely to drive future purchases.
The results placed camera resolution 15th on a list of 23 features. Audio quality for voice, battery life, device security and browsing came top of the poll.
"Most people just look at their photos on their smartphone or via a social network on a computer - and for this the other vendors already provide very good quality," Francisco Jeronimo, a mobile phone analyst at the firm, told the BBC.
"Nokia needs to convince consumers that this new handset outperforms others in low-light conditions, otherwise they would only really notice the difference if they zoomed in on the images on a large screen or printed out a poster.
The Lumia 1020 allows owners to adjust focus, shutter speed and white balance via a new user interface
"It may be the best smartphone out there but I doubt it will be enough to convince many users to jump platform from Android or iOS which accounted for 92% of global shipments in the last quarter ."
